Shooting up and down the NBA Regular Season Rankings

With the NBA Regular season just around the corner, I decided to take a look at the NBA Regular Season Stats among all teams. I found a great resource for the data at Basketball-Reference.com, and I used Parsehub.com to scrape through the various seasons.

Tableau was used to visualize. I utilized concentric half-circles to create the arcs. I then modified their height by Multiplying the Concentric Half Circle Y field by the Rank - (The Max Rank in Season [The number of active teams in that season]). I then "moved" the Concentric Arc on the X Axis according the Season by Adding it to the X Position.

The Top of the Arc represents the Overall Rank in the Season. Hovering over a mark will show you visually how many wins/losses the team had in that season. Stars are used to represent the team that won the championship in that season. The Blue-Orange color scheme is used to emphasize the position of the Rank within the season.

I used "Arcs" instead of a traditional Bump Chart as a way to visualize the metaphor of a "Shot".
